Obituary for Alice Lindemann

On on Valentine’s Day in 1943, a day the universe sparkled with love, Alice Joy Thornburg-Lindemann was born. From her birthplace in Ft Wayne, IN she moved to Golden, CO in 1953 where she helped her mother build a home on Lookout Mountain. Alice received a bachelor’s degree in education from Adams State College where at one point she hosted singer Judy Collins on her dorm room floor. In 1966 she married John Lindemann at Rockland Church; soon after, the newlyweds embarked on a lifetime of travel and adventure. She lived abroad in southern Africa and Europe during which time her first daughter, Virginia Mary, was born in London, U.K., and soon after her second daughter, Heather Alice, was born in Cordoba, Spain. Eventually Alice and her family settled in Broomfield, CO. For children and adults alike, Alice taught and mentored. She could match any child with the perfect book or offer just the right amount of insight to navigate any challenge. She was an English teacher in Adams 12 and Boulder Valley Public Schools. Later she served as an administrator at Broomfield Heights Middle School, Louisville Middle and as principal at Platt Middle School. She retired in 2007. During her retirement she wrote, traveled and spoiled her grandchildren. On Saturday November 25, 2017 she stepped off the earth to the next universal adventure. On December 9, 2017 her husband, daughters, brothers (Peter and William Thornburg), sister (Rosemary Thornburg) and granddaughters (Isabel and Julia Roman) will gather for a celebration of love at the Copper Leaf in Broomfield, CO starting at 12:30. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers please donate to Greenhouse Scholars or consider offering a hug or small piece of chocolate to someone you love.
