Life Story for Dorothy "Dot" Lowe Krieger

Ted was born in Denver to Conrad and Marie Krieger. Dot was born in Philadelphia to
George and Dorothy Lowe. Ted was smitten in 1950 by a photo of Dot, and it was love at first sight. They married 04/15/51 in Washington, D.C. and moved west in 1961 to the small town of Broomfield, CO. Ted was an award-winning Denver Center Air Traffic Controller for 32+ years and instructor five more years after retiring. He loved gardening (he worked his own Hawthorne Landscaping business on days off), western history (long-time member Denver Posse of Westerners), music (regular church organist from age 16 into his 70s) and trains.
Ted took thousands of travel photos and gave slide shows on various western and Native American topics. Dot was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher and always busy at church and community volunteer activities. Dot was a great seamstress and crafter, and sewed countless dresses, including the annual doll dresses for the retiring Job’s Daughters queens. She helped establish the FISH food bank, Broomfield Senior Housing, was president of Senior Resources, and chaired Cancer Society drives. She served as moderator for Broomfield United Church of Christ and was President of Metro Denver and Rocky Mountain Conference Women. She held leadership roles in Church Women United and the TTT Society and was active in PEO. Dot served as 2004 National Vice President for Church Women United and was proud to receive the Woman of Valor award for her work. She was TTT state president 2013-14. Together Dot and Ted were a constant team, hosting open house dinner parties planned and cooked by Dot, in the backyard gardens planted and pruned by Ted. They traveled the US and world, from the early days of Ancient Puebloan excavations in Cortez CO to steam engine train rides to exploring Scotland and England together. Dot and Ted were both Chuck Wranglers and Sheriffs for the Denver Posse of Westerners (Ted was also financial Tallyman) and were honored to jointly receive the 2009 Outstanding Service Award for their years of dedication to the group. They both loved trout fishing and were active in Ghost Town Club. Ted was raised Methodist, and so they joined Broomfield’s Methodist Church late in life, where they both eventually had final celebration of life services, just 8 months apart. They are survived by children Cheryl Brown (Matthew) of Bonney Lake, WA and Dr. George (Aimee) of Parker, plus two grandchildren Dr. Brenna Teigler (Dr. Jeff) and Hilary Krieger. Dot and Ted celebrated over 66 years of marriage, and are now both interred at Ft. Logan Cemetery, because of Ted’s US Army service in Korea. Donations in their names are made to Broomfield FISH Food Bank, Broomfield Senior Resources Meals on Wheels and Broomfield United Methodist Church.
