Obituary for Joann Thomas

Joann Thomas, 87, formerly of Boulder and Broomfield, Colorado and Liberal, Kansas passed away August 9, 2018 in Morgantown, West Virginia where she had lived since 2015. She was born January 24, 1931 in Boulder to Frank and Adrienne Eastom.

She attended the University of Colorado as a Fine Arts major and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She moved to Kansas in 1950 after marrying Glenn Thomas. They raised three children there before they were able to return to Boulder in 1963.

She loved the mountains and enjoyed skiing, visiting ghost towns, and many trips to Lake City and the surrounding area. She never lost her interest in art and volunteered for many years working in the photography lab of the Denver Art Museum. After her children were grown she returned to the University to resume her art studies. She worked for Joslin’s, then Dillards, for 20 years before retiring in 2008. She was a lifelong member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 2007.

She is survived by her brother Fred (Nedra) Eastom; two sons, Mark Thomas of Morgantown, West Virginia, and David Thomas (Linda) of Midland, Texas; and daughter Adrienne Holt of Grand Junction, Colorado; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held October 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Rundus Funeral Home in Broomfield, 1998 W. 10th Avenue.
